State contracts for Superstorm Sandy repairs, supplies top $350 million

State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli’s office has approved $350.4 million in contracts since Superstorm Sandy Oct. 29, 2012, according to records on the comptroller’s website.

That includes $3.7 million this month, $35,000 of which went to Sharan Builders Inc. for seawall reconstruction at Nyack Beach State Park. A $1.9 million contract was approved Dec. 23 to pay dump site fees for tree cleanup.

Other expenditures for contracts relating to Nyack Beach State Park include $5,423 July 12 for restoration; $440,000 May 5 to Fourmen Construction Inc. to reconstruct the river trail from Nyack Beach to Haverstraw; $450,000 April 16 to Ben Ciccone Inc. to restore the parking lot and riverbank; $300,000 March 12 to Sun Up Enterprises Inc. to reconstruct the river trail; and $300,000 March 12 to Sharan Builders Inc. to reconstruct the seawall.

The contracts for Superstorm Sandy repairs and recovery efforts cover a wide range of products and services, from $360,606 for hand-washing stations and water and $10.3 million for additional crisis counseling with Federal Emergency Management Agency funds to $600,000 for tree removal in the Palisades region. Not all expenditures have details on where work took place or where supplies were delivered.

The state has approved contracts for tree removal alone that total close to $11 million statewide, according to DiNapoli’s office.

DiNapoli ordered the expedited approval of all  contracts and expenditures related to Superstorm Sandy.

These are some other contracts related to Superstorm Sandy in the Lower Hudson Valley:
—$1.2 million to O’Sullivan Tree Care March 12 for tree removal at Bear Mountain State Park and the Palisades region.—$50,000 to Raw Power Electric Corp. March 12 to investigate and repair an electrical breaker at Sing Sing Correctional Facility in Ossining.—$75,000 to G & M Mechanical Inc. Dec. 5, 2012 to restore heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems at Sing Sing prison.—$300,000 to Mohawk Valley Utility Construction Corp. Dec. 4, 2012 to restore electrical systems at Sing Sing prison.—$300,000 to Kenstar Construction Corp. Dec. 4, 2012 for cleanup and fencing restoration at Sing Sing prison.—$300,000 to Fanshawe Inc. Jan. 23 to restore electrical services at Harriman State Park.—$300,000 to Hudson Valley Electrical Construction & Maintenance Dec. 20, 2012 to repair and replace a generator at Camp Smith in Cortlandt.—$300,000 to Hudson Valley Electrical Construction & Maintenance Inc. Dec. 4, 2012 to repair and replace power lines at Camp Smith.—$300,000 to Fanshawe Inc. Dec. 7, 2012 for generators at various facilities in Westchester County.—$150,000 to Sun Up Enterprises Inc. Dec. 4, 2012 for tree removal at the Hudson Valley DDSO, which serves New Yorkers with developmental disabilities.—$3.7 million to Eastern Excavation Nov. 26, 2012 for debris removal in the Hudson Valley.—$3.7 million to Eastern Excavation Nov. 9, 2012 for debris removal in the Hudson Valley.
